Speech recognition and pronunciation assessment

With your permission, Linga sends your voice recording, practice text and language to Microsoft Azure or SpeechSuper for speech recognition and pronunciation assessment. The provider depends on the service configuration. You can skip the exercise without sending a recording.

Linga Browser Extension

The extension has one purpose: translate text that you select on webpages with its sentence context and let signed-in users manage that vocabulary in their Linga dictionary.

The extension temporarily examines the nearest surrounding text block locally to isolate your selection and one sentence of context. It sends only that selection and extracted sentence after you click the Linga bubble, choose Translate with Linga, or use the shortcut. Each requested lookup and its context is stored in your Linga account translation history. The extension does not send the rest of the surrounding block, page URL, page title, visited-domain list, or browsing history.

The extension stores Linga authentication, account, language, subscription, random installation identifier, and interface data in Chrome local storage, not Chrome Sync. Our backend receives the request IP address and may derive an approximate country. Linga may use providers needed for a requested translation, language-processing, AI, text-to-speech, or image-search feature; Google processes optional sign-in and Sentry may receive scrubbed crash diagnostics.

The extension sends limited first-party product analytics to Linga's own service, including install/update, popup or panel opens, context-menu or shortcut translation triggers, sign-in outcomes, plan gates, upgrade clicks, and sign-out. Events may include account, installation and worker-session identifiers, subscription status, extension/platform version, locale, time zone, timestamp, event-specific bounded fields, request IP and approximate country/city. A daily device row may include browser name and major version, operating system, and side-panel support. Analytics does not include page URLs or titles, selected text, translated words, dictionary content, email, credentials, tokens, or browsing history.

Signing out clears account credentials and profile data from the extension, while the random installation identifier, interface preferences, and undelivered analytics events may remain locally until delivery or uninstall. Uninstall removes browser-local storage but does not itself delete server-side dictionary, translation-history, or previously delivered analytics data.

The extension does not sell user data, show advertising, use data for cross-site tracking, or use or transfer data for creditworthiness or lending. The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
